From humble beginnings in a Brooklyn bakery, brothers Joshua and Morris Setton turned a passion for gourmet food towards growing quality pistachios. For the past 40 years the Setton family has attended to each detail of growing, harvesting, processing, manufacturing and packaging pistachios.
This continued tradition of excellence has cemented Setton Farms as one of America’s largest pistachio grower and processors, encompassing over 10,000 acres in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Setton’s pistachios are simply in a class by themselves and widely regarded as “America’s Best Tasting Pistachios” because of their great taste and superior quality.
Setton farms their own pistachio land and receives crops from pistachio farmers throughout California where over 98% of the pistachios are grown in the United States. Pistachio trees are harvested each year between mid-August and October. During this time, Setton’s facilities operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Specialized harvesting equipment encapsulates and shakes the tree which ensures that the pistachios never touch the ground and are brought to Setton’s plant within hours to be processed.
At Setton’s facility pistachios are conveyed into cleaners to remove any sticks and leaves, and water treated to remove the outer hull. Setton has the capacity to process in excess of 130 million pounds of pistachios each year and has plans for further expansion. Setton uses a combination of state-of-the-art machine sorting as well as hand sorting to ensure the highest quality product. Only these pistachios are packaged and put on shelves, or used to make our Pistachio Chewy Bites.
